The Greenville Police Department's free violence prevention summer camp program returns June 19 - 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sterling Elementary School (99 John McCarroll Way). 

Greenville Police Department’s Annual Officer Allen Jacobs Summer Camp is designed to provide students with a positive recreational and educational experience during their summer break and provide Greenville Police Department's School Resource Officers (SROs) and Neighborhood Engagement Team (NET) officers an opportunity to mentor and positively interact with students.  

The program’s primary objective is to serve as a preventive measure to help students resist the influence of youth crime, drug abuse, violence and gang involvement. Emphasis is placed on building a motivational spirit through teamwork, sportsmanship, community and self-discipline, which allow youth to foster a positive relationship with law enforcement. Participants will be exposed to life skills, positive role models, role-playing activities, games and safety skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to interact with police officers and community volunteers and enjoy a week filled with learning, games, guest speakers and self-development.

In Memory of Officer Allen Lee Jacobs

Greenville Police Department’s Annual Officer Allen Jacobs Summer Camp is named in honor of fallen officer Allen Lee Jacobs (E.O.W. 3/18/2016) as a tribute to his tireless efforts to prevent and reduce gang activity and violence in Greenville. 

Officer Jacobs spent his career engaging with the community and enthusiastically participating in community-based gang prevention programs, and his last moments relentlessly pursuing violent gang members.

The Greenville Police Department is proud to offer this program in his name as part of its efforts to continue his work to reduce the impact of group violence in our neighborhoods.

COVID-19 Precautions

Before Camp Begins

Please do not attend camp if you:

  • Have symptoms of COVID-19 (as defined by the CDC)
  • Have been in close contact (as defined by the CDC) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19

*Please notify Yvonne Davis at 864-467-6624 for guidance on camp attendance.

During Camp

  • Any camp participant who begins to develop symptoms of COVID-19 while at camp will be isolated and evaluated by on-site medical staff, and the parent or guardian will be contacted as soon as possible. 
  • Any volunteer who begins to develop symptoms of COVID-19 while at camp will be isolated and evaluated by on-site medical staff and may be asked to return home.
