Power and communication lines on West Washington Street, before the undergrounding project began.
Power and communication lines will be buried and new streetlights and decorative pedestrian lights will be added. A new mast arm traffic signal system will also be installed at the intersection of W. Washington Street and W. Broad Street. The project area includes the following locations:
Timeline: Construction is expected to be completed in April 2019.
Power and communication lines will be buried along Welborn Street and along S. Hudson Street, from Gibbs Street to the Reedy River. The ultimate goal is to bury all existing overhead utilities within and along the perimeter of Unity Park. This includes S. Hudson Street, Mulberry Street and W. Washington Street, from S. Hudson Street to Trescott Street.
Timeline: Project design is expected to be completed in April 2019. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2019.
Power and communication lines across Williams Street (in front of 117 Williams Street) will be buried.
Timeline: Construction is expected to begin in March 2019.
