The West End Small Area Plan is a targeted vision for growth focused on the character of places within the district.
The City of Greenville, with Urban Design Associates (UDA), conducted a planning process for Greenville’s West End, a neighborhood immediately next to Greenville’s Downtown and South Downtown.
City Council unanimously approved the plan at its November 22, 2021, formal meeting.
The West End Small Area Plan fits within the goals and objectives of the larger GVL2040 comprehensive plan, adopted earlier in 2021.
Key Elements
The plan centers around making streets comfortable and safe for pedestrians and bikes as well as building on and maintaining the character of the area. Key elements include:
An infrastructure improvement strategy
A specific character vision for six unique precincts in the West End
Building, design and signage recommendations to reflect the character already present
