Greenville City Fire Department offers an exclusive opportunity for rising juniors and seniors to become certified firefighters in just eight weeks at no cost!
The second annual Firefighter Training Camp, is held from June through August each summer, at the GCFD Training Facility at 688 Mauldin Road. Classes are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and lunch will be provided.
This training, which covers all aspects of firefighting, as well as CPR and first aid, incident command, hazardous materials operations and auto extrication, would cost thousands of dollars for students who pursued it on their own.
In addition to the coursework, GCFD also provides opportunities such as ride-alongs with fire crews and mock interviews with area fire chiefs to help prepare the students to enter the job market.
Students who complete the program receive an IFSAC (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress) certification for Firefighter I and Firefighter II, which means they are eligible to apply for employment with Greenville City Fire Department or other fire agencies.
